Unfortunately no task was activated, however it was noted that Timbo Swaite had made most commitment and was rewarded accordingly
Well the weather didn't improve. So the last hardy souls put their hands together to give applause the winners of the competition.
All agreed that the results do not reflect the enjoyment had by most at this event.
Thanks were given to Martin Colclough the Competition Meethead, and Trevour Birkbeck for organizing the comp.
Two windy! So day was canned.
So to compensate we did some other things.
Nev Almond did a nice long talk on Kobos and XCsoar.
Greg Emms did some Parachute checking and repacking
Some went for a wlak in the glorious country side and watched the wave bars coming and going
Some got a much needed kip.
In the evening we had the competition meal with the added bonus of a band, which even managed to people on the Dance floor.
After mucho conflaberatation we went to Dodd Fell and sat in the cloud. Then it lifted and got better and better. Aviation commenced Heros of the day included Richard Hunt who went of first. Tony Fillingham first away. And Justin Needham who activated the task......... Nearly! So the scores on the board wont be below, because there wasn't any. Dam
Dodd fell was once again the place to be.
There seemed to be two camps, those that got up in the gentle wave to around 4.1k, and those that didn't.
Some showed some heroic skills in getting back up from almost landing, Johnny and Darren sweated the most.
From miles away one would hear a high pitched girlie scream of delight as he topped out above the clouds. To me it sounded like a little girlie who had just discovered the sweetie jar.
You could also hear swearing from someone who had obviously fitted his double kobo navigation aid upside down.
After a lot of "which site" discussion, it was decided to head for Dodd Fell.
This involved a bit of a stroll, which was really good for those on a fitness plan.
Then a bit of waiting.
Then a lot of take offs as Nev and Paul climbed out and away.
Lots of pilots decided the call of the bottom field was to great, and the more the merrier. Party!
At the end of the day, Tim D and Bomber got a decent climb out.
These have now been added to the waypoints page for those that wish to download and install themselves.
